Business District Hosts a Successful Holiday Musical Event
During the afternoon on Dec. 9, 2009 the Surfside Business Association (SBA) & HSBC sponsored a “Holiday Musical Event” and the arrival of Santa Claus in the downtown district which featured the fabulous Choir from Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8. The children’s choir strolled down Harding Avenue and visited many of the stores and restaurants, bringing the joyful spirit of the season.
Residents, visitors, business owners and shoppers were treated to the sweet “sounds of the season” and the choir members extended warm wishes to everyone for a Happy Holidays, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa and Feliz Navidad.
Many thanks to former Surfside Mayor and current SBA president Eli Tourgeman, who was responsible for organizing the musical showcase. “There were so many individuals and departments that contribute to the success of this event”, said Eli.
He also extended a special “thank you” to others who assisted:
- All the Surfside merchants for the warm welcome they gave to the kids and their generous donations which help support the choir group.
- Abigal Rubin, music teacher, for her time and effort.
- The children in the choir from Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 for their voices and enthusiasm.
- Rafael Borrero from HSBC for his role as Santa Claus.
- Alberto Aguirre for collecting the much needed donations.
- The Surfside Police Department for providing parking to the parents of the choir.
- Ruben Coto, Duncan Tavares for helping guide Santa and the choir.
